The Stafford Museum and Cultural Center Foundation along with the Stafford County Historical Society and Gari Melchers Home and Studio at Belmont announce their event “Stafford Treasures from the Attic” on March 9, 2014, at Belmont (224 Washington St, Falmouth, VA 22405) from 1 – 4pm.

While Stafford celebrates its 350th anniversary, the Museum Foundation wants to help current and former Stafford citizens uncover Stafford County’s past with the items that may be hidden in their attics. (The museum does not wish to acquire these items, just document what Stafford citizens have relating to Stafford history.) The museum will have experts on hand that will assist in uncovering Stafford’s hidden history. Items may include (but are not limited to): old photos (before 1965, postcards, letters, journals and diaries, business ledgers, advertisements, furniture, items “dug up” in Stafford, that mysterious unidentifiable item.

The foundation is working to build a museum in Stafford to highlight its rich and unique history. The foundation has a Facebook page and will launch a website in the Spring. For more information please contact the foundation at [email protected] or call Tracy at 540-658-5300.
