History Lives in Stafford

Historical Reenactments

Whether large scale, such as the 150th reenactment of the Battle of Fredericksburg in 2013, or smaller scale encampments in Falmouth, or the White Oak Civil War Museum, Union and Confederate reenactment units have come to Stafford from all over America. Union reenactment units with strong Stafford ties are the 2nd U.S. Sharpshooters, 7th Michigan Infantry, 28th Massachusetts Infantry, 14th Brooklyn Infantry, and 3rd U.S. Infantry. Confederate Units include the 47th Virginia Infantry, 13th Virginia Infantry, and Fluvanna Artillery. Frequent participants in Stafford events, portraying civilians during the Civil War, is a group of reenactors from Spotsylvania County.
