Historical Organizations
A large number of historical organizations have preserved Stafford’s rich history. The Stafford County Historical Society is the undisputed leader in these efforts inspiring a renaissance in historical writing, raising a museum endowment fund, and providing all content for the Stafford County Museum and Cultural Center’s website.
Other organizations have highlighted specific aspects or periods of Stafford’s history: Patawomeck Tribe; Revolutionary War Groups (DAR, SAR, Colonial Dames); Civil War heritage groups (UDC, SCV. SUV); Civil War Round Table of Fredericksburg (FCWRT former leaders pictured at Chatham); Rappahannock Valley Civil War Roundtable; Washington Heritage Museum; and George Washington’s Young Friends.
